Over the last two months the start up community around the world has been experiencing one of the most challenging times in our history. With so many companies facing lower valuations and fewer opportunities to find the right investors, we will be exploring the issues from the investor perspective.
Our formidable panel comprises of high calibre investors who have not only invested significant funds into start ups but also have an abundance of experience in helping growth and success for those facing tough decisions.
SPEAKERS:
Peter Cowley has an outstanding track record of investing in start ups and also having founded 14 of his own businesses in technology and construction. He has won multiple awards for Angel of the year and Best Angel of the World in 2017 and appears regularly in the media. Peter studied Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Cambridge and is now a Fellow at the Cambridge Business Judge School.
Tuba Terekli is an inspirational professional with over 15 years investing in the start up ecosystem. Her experience extends to having established the first Saudi Fast Growth 100 list as well as the first tech accelerator in Saudi Arabia, Qotuf. Tuba has established and managed the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Global Entrepreneurship Network, Creative Business Cup in Saudi Arabia in addition to serving as a judge in many regional and global competitions and is heavily involved in creating different levels of funding available to businesses to help them grow. She studied at both Stanford and Harvard Business School and she works throughout the GCC, Silicon Valley and Europe.
Nicholas Russell is a serial entrepreneur and mentor of some of the most innovative and highly successful businesses in the tech sector. He was a resident mentor at the University College London’s entrepreneurship program and now involved with a new initiative Conception X, a venture builder that creates deep tech start ups from PhDs allowing talented individuals to master the art of entrepreneurship. Nicholas also has an MBA from Oxford Said Business School.
Josh Romisher is a serial entrepreneur and former US banker. Josh is driven by the opportunity to provide hardworking people worldwide with the platform to use their skills in effecting positive social change. He is the former CFO of Fenix International, Vice President of Corporate Finance at Zola Electric, and his passion for the environment led him to the solar sector in Africa. As an entrepreneur his array of ventures include a boutique investment bank in New York, a solar irrigation startup in India and a frozen yoghurt franchise in San Francisco. Josh has been successful in raising funds of over $250 million in the past 6 years.
