Techpreneurship Centre Data Science Consultant

Stellenbosch University LaunchLab (“SU LL”) is Africa’s leading University Business Incubator focused on transforming seemingly impossible ideas into world-shaping businesses. SU LL is seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to be a data science facilitator for its Techpreneurship Centre (TPC) – SU LaunchLab’s upskilling programme aimed at equipping individuals with in-demand technology and entrepreneurship skills. The SU TPC includes a full-time, four-week, coding “bootcamp” in which data science, machine learning, cloud computing, and entrepreneurship development content are taught to a cohort of 30 – 50 participants.

 

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to create content for and facilitate our data science modules. The candidate will ideally have experience in developing and facilitating training and development programmes within the domains of data science, machine learning, and/or business intelligence. The candidate will join SU LaunchLab on a fixed-term contract.

Position:      SU Techpreneurship Centre Data Science and Machine Learning Facilitator
Hours:          Approximately 20 hours per week for 4 weeks as defined by TPC Director  

Reporting:   Reports to SU TPC Director 

Wage:           R250 per hour with a cap of 52 hours in total

Timing:         10 January 2022, preferably sooner 

Location:       Must be able to work in person in Stellenbosch 

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

Course Facilitation & Content Creation:

  • Facilitate data science bootcamps and other programmes
  • Facilitate tutorials, assignments, projects and grade them
  • Create content for some modules if required
  • Facilitate training programmes for different learner segments, both part-time and full-time, as well as virtually and in-person

 

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree is required but a PhD’s qualification in a related field is preferred
  • Experience in data science, machine learning, data analysis and AI
  • Experience in data manipulation and analysis
  • Experience in Deep Learning
  • Experience in Python programming, SQL/MySQL database, data exploration, data visualisation 
  • Experience in Python libraries for data science:  TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn etc.
  • Statistics
  • Version control: Git/Github
  • Experience facilitating training and creating content within the above-mentioned domains
  • Passion for knowledge transfer and training
  • Strong communication skills
